The Office of Innovation of the IAVANTE Foundation manages the organisation´s innovative projects using adaptable methodologies, monitoring cutting edge developments, generating knowledge and providing help in seeking funding for projects submitted by both the IAVANTE Foundation and the Living Lab Salud Andalucia.
To achieve the objectives contained in the projects it is essential to have a wide, constantly updated technological knowledge base.This is provided by the professionals of the Office of Innovation, enabling the office to respond to the growing complexity of the health system and technological progress, which require continual acquisition and broadening of knowledge of the new possibilities available in the health sphere for developing projects capable of providing solutions.
This is the job of the technology monitoring division, which answers needs as they arise and gathers information. The activity of this division can be summarised as follows:
1. Participation in committees and working groups, both on a national and international level, to define and update standards aimed at improving healthcare information systems, particularly: Health Level 7, Integrating the Health Enterprise (IHE) and the European Institute for Health Records (EuroRec)
2. Participation in sectorial technological and industrial associations as an additional means of interacting with specialist suppliers. The following are the priority areas: the Spanish Society of Health Informatics (SEIS), the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
3. Technological meetings with specialist suppliers to explore and define solutions in areas such as: agents of integration, identity management, virtualisation, clinical messaging, system of coding and vocabularies, and clinical architecture.
4. Active participation in health informatics and healthcare information systems events events and meetings, the most important being: HIMSS Conference, Inforsalud and the Meeting on Normalisation in Healthcare (SEIS).
The Office of Innovation is in charge of seeking additional funding for projects, providing advice on legal matters and regulatory issues, and overseeing the correct development of the project to avoid losing sight of its original objectives. The Office also helps with: discussions and communication between the members of the ICT directory of the Andalusian Public Health System (APHS), coordinating projects and engaging suppliers, economic monitoring and drawing up specifications.
The projects in which the Office is currently involved in some capacity are: Plataforma de Gestión de la Formación del SSPA, Web Enrich, Plataforma de Salud Sexual, Gestor de Activos Digitales, Informarse.es Salud, Presentador Integrado Multimedia, Visita tu bebé, Centro de Interoperabilidad and Mundo de Estrellas.
The Office also participates in a number of initiatives which have yet to be implemented and for which iti is engaged in the following tasks: help in creating and implementing pilot projects, defining criteria for accepting proposals, reviewing and validating third party documentation and preparing reports.
